Round London finally made it to Brick Lane for the first time to introduce some ethical fashion at Backyard’s market on Sunday 30th May over this Bank Holiday. It was a fairly sunny day and certainly busy around Brick Lane. Lots of wonderful friend & dogs came by to say hi and the day went quick but fun, and best of all made some sales. Roll on next month…
Round London got a special mentioned today from our good friend Brooke’s blog all the way from Australia. Please check it out and sign up to this blog as its becoming very popular with all the vintage and fashion lovers down-under. Brooke also runs re:new’s ebay store and is full of amazing vintage pieces and some of which Brooke has altered herself to make it more wearable.
Normally Round London don’t like to talk about herself too much and let the clothes does the talking, but since We Make London had asked so nicely, how can we say no. In case some of you out there are interested then feeling free to have a look and find out a little background history before Round London was even born! The feature includes a sneak preview of the new collection before we get the chance to shoot this collection beautifully by our good friend Matt Veal.
Yesterday saw the launch of the very first Fishtank Festival at the Rag Factory off Brick Lane. The Fishtank Festival is a one-day arts festival, bringing together a wide range of artists and musicians. Expect 7 bands, 4 acoustic musicians, DJs, no less than 15 artists (photographers, painters and installation artists), an 8-man breakdance competition, an 8-woman burlesque show, a fashion show by ethical designers, talks by 6 acclaimed entrepreneurs, short films, one master magician and plenty of other other amazing goings-on, all packed into four rooms for nine hours.
The day started off as very manic backstage trying to get all the models ready for the mini catwalk show organized by Nu Magazine. Round London was there to help dress the models and to find out the reaction to its brand new collection. Luckily the show went smoothly, with the except of one of the model’s shoes heel falling off, oops! The preview on the catwalk of Round London’s new collection went down well and our very supportive friend Suki for snapping up pre-order voucher from the new collection as a gift to a friend. The evening ended with one to many champagnes and not enough food…it was straight home to bed for the crew!
Round London’s been asked by the Posh Swap blogger to take our East London creations West side! This will be the first ever Posh Swap Clothes Party in Chiswick on 17th September. There will be lots to do besides swapping with a free glass of wine and a mini manicure or neck and shoulder massage.
Working late again to make sure everything’s in place for tomorrow first ever We Make London fair in Stoke Newington, London. Clothes…checked! Rail…checked! Hangers…checked! Most important..the brand new accessories collection!
This August, in the run up to London Fashion Week, Round London will not only bring you the usual delicious ‘one off’ pieces that you “need”, but a plethora of up and coming designers and creators of all things designed for your surroundings too.
The day went well with nice music from my good friends, Matty J & Ben Terry (TIRK) and guest Neil Terry. Weather was good enough for the BBQ to take place on the roof terrace and lot of cocktails consumed.
Round London new brooches were quickly snapped up by friends…
Woke up early to a bright sunny morning to make sure everything is packed and haven’t left anything laying around after last night manic packing. The excitement of taking part in the first fair is definitely high but at least Round London’s very good friend and make-up artist Pamela Cochrane was a great help at hand to calm the nerves and feeding Round London.
The evening turned out was great, people came and chatted and met a few great eco-designers. Swapped business cards and ideas. Quite a few friends came along to give support and bringing the odd drink or two from next door (Big Chill Bar). Hence the lack of sleep and slight sore head this morning… think it’s best to stop writing now…
Round London will be exhibiting at this year’s Eco Design Fair at Old Truman’s Brewery from 26th-28th June, Friday 5pm-9pm, Saturday & Sunday 10am-6pm. The fair promotes and sells products that are ethically produced or designed using sustainable principals. With the use of contemporary design in environmentally friendly products that are really taking off, The Eco-Design Fair is one of the few places in the country to see – and buy, some fantastic design products directly from the makers.
